Beyond Scared Straight

“If anybody tries to get up in my face I will fight them,” or “my friend has my back if someone tries to take me on,” are similar statements that many teenagers have when they get a glimpse of the atmosphere of jail.

Beyond Scared Straight helps teenagers from later on going to jail by giving them a glimpse of jail life in order to scare them from ever wanting to go there. I watch the show occasionally and I myself get scared a little, and sad because the show is so intense because the jailers express their emotions and opinions strongly.

When the jailers are yelling at the kids it makes me scared while sitting on the couch because the jailers are creepy and want to hurt them. It makes me sad to see what the jailers wish them could take back, and how the teenagers fail to realize how much freedom and opportunity they have.

Although, the show makes me scared when the jailers are yelling in the teenagers faces, I am glad  the show allows the jailers to do that because it gives the teenagers a wakeup call. To give them a little taste of what can happen to them when they are actually in jail.

I am also glad when jailers care about the teens that they actually want to sit down and talk to them to try to make them stop ,and see their potential. Seeing that moment makes me smile to know there are people who really don’t want to see other people go through what they went through.

Overall, the best part of the show is at the ending when most of the teenagers decide to make a change and do. It’s wonderful to see their transformation. I am glad this show/program was created to help more teenagers from ending their lives of freedom. I hope more teenagers who are going down the path get showed what jail can be life in order to see their true potential in life.

Boogie man

As a child I was afraid of the Boogieman. Disney Channel had made a movie called, "Don't Look Under the Bed."

The movie was about a boogieman living under your bed and her/she would grab your legs and pull you underneath your bed into their world.

After watching that movie I was so afraid to put my legs down on the floor when I  was sitting on the bed, or even touch the floor.

I would get to my bed as quickly as I could by leaping or jumping into bed. Now that I'm 19 years old the thought of me being scared of the Boogieman makes me laugh. It  makes me realize how innocent and afraid I was of things like that.

So comment and tell me something you were afraid of as a child.
